Quick Draw Event

  • Marjory Stoneman Douglas Biscayne Nature Center 6767 Crandon Boulevard Key Biscayne, Florida, 33149 United States (map)

Miami Plein Aire is organizing a Quick Draw event to coincide with the Inaugural Exhibition timeframe!

ARTISTS

  • This Quick Draw event is open to any artist regardless of whether or not they have participated in previous Miami Plein Aire outings. Plein Air is defined as a painting done outside, entirely on location and completed within the time constraints. For the purposes of this document, the word “Painting” refers to oils, acrylics, watercolor and pastels. The word “Substrate” refers to any material used as a surface for 2-D artwork such as stretched canvas, canvas panel or paper. No photographs or digital artworks allowed.

  • All artists must register prior to the event or before 9 am on the date of the Quick Draw, and have their substrates stamped prior to painting. Visit the “Quickdraw” menu at MiamiPleinAire.com to sign up and pay the $25.00 registration fee.

  • Artists may set up before 10 am anywhere within the defined boundaries, but may not start painting until after the official 10 am start time. Artists who start early will be disqualified. Substrates may be pre-toned with a background color.

  • You may have more than one substrate stamped, but only one painting per artist may be displayed for judging.  Finished work must be framed, labeled, and ready to hang when displayed for judging.  Detailed information will be available upon your arrival.

COLLECTORS

You can join in on the fun, too! Come watch the artists at work and stay for the awards announcement to see which ones receive recognition. Fresh artworks will be available for purchase, with a portion of the proceeds supporting student programming at the BNC.
